The reason for mass protests in Iran was the death of 22-year-old Iranian Kurd, Gina Mahsa Amini. In September, the so-called morality police arrested her because she allegedly did not follow the mandatory rules of wearing a hijab – hair was visible from under it. The woman died in police custody on September 16. After her death, thousands of people demonstrated against the repressive course and the Islamic system of government.
Later 16-year-old Iranian girl Niki Shakarami became a victim of Iranian security forces. Her mother denied official claims that her daughter had fallen from a high-rise building and said that the girl had died from blows to the head during a crackdown on anti-hijab protests.
Young women often lead protests, tearing down and waving headscarves in a demonstrative way. , calling for the overthrow of the government. The protests quickly spread across Iran and were met with a harsh crackdown by the government, including beatings, arrests and killings of demonstrators.
