Hunger Games: Russia wants to bring back the threat of mass starvation

Russia is blocking the passage of ships with grain – there are already 175 in the queue.

Russia once again intends to exacerbate the global food crisis, to bring back the threat of large-scale famine. This was emphasized by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi during an evening video address.

“Today, due to the deliberate Russian inhibition of our food exports, the number of ships waiting for the opportunity to fulfill contractual obligations is already 175. And this is not just some trade problem. This is the deterioration of access to food for millions of people and the threat of an even greater increase in the prices of basic products on different continents – in Africa, Asia, and Europe. If Russia succeeds in the negative scenario, it will end in a new large-scale migration crisis,” the president noted.

He called on partners to guarantee food security and end the “dirty Russian game with hunger”. In particular, the president thanked the Senate of Poland, which made a decision to officially recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, and noted that such decisions should be made by the majority of the world's countries.
