Hungary on Sunday again disrupted talks on a sixth package of sanctions against Russia

Hungary continues to block the European Union's attempts to impose an embargo on Russian oil imports, delaying the entire package of sanctions of the sixth package against Russia over the war in Ukraine. The EU proposal aims to ban crude oil for the next six months and refined products – until early January. The EU has also proposed exemptions for Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, as they are heavily dependent on Russian oil.

The EU insisted that sanctions be agreed before Victory Day, which is celebrated in Russia on May 9.

According to Bloomberg, after an unsuccessful attempt to approve a package of sanctions, the leaders of the G7 countries should make a video call later Sunday to discuss how this delay could limit the sanctions that were announced earlier.

According to EU plan proposed to member states < Last week, European companies and individuals will be banned from providing tankers and related services, such as insurance, needed to transport oil to third countries. These measures are planned to be implemented within three months.

The sanctions also targeted dozens of servicemen, including those believed to be responsible for war crimes in Bucha, as well as companies supplying equipment, supplies and services to the armed forces Russia.
