Hungary yesterday accepted Russian nuclear-fueled aircraft for its only nuclear power plant.
On April 6, nuclear fuel was delivered from Russia to ensure the operation of the Paks nuclear power plant in Hungary. To this end, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia have allowed Russian aircraft to cross their airspace. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Piotr Siarto at a briefing before a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.
“In any case, in the near future, colleagues (from the EU – Ed.) will still negotiate a new package of sanctions; for us here the red line is nuclear energy,” – said Siarto. He also added that Hungary would not support any initiatives on sanctions against Russian oil or gas. According to him, this is a matter of national security.
