The atrocities of the Russian invaders in Bucha, which opened after the liberation of Kyiv from the occupiers, shocked the whole world. Bucha Mayor Anatoly Federuk said 320 civilians had died during the Russian occupation of the city. At least 163 people were identified today . However, many people continue to look for their dead or deceased loved ones, who often had to be left under fire right on the city streets.
The editorial office received a letter from a resident of Bucha. She miraculously escaped from the city. But before the evacuation, her mother died in her arms from a covid.
“It was not possible to bury, because it was necessary to evacuate urgently (the next day, residents of the other side of this street were already shot), to obtain documents on death, too. Even just to witness the death – no one wanted to come – no ambulance, no police, no family doctor, because the area of hostilities. Therefore, before the evacuation, the dead mother simply had to be left in a bus parked in the yard with other corpses. How now to find where all these dead people are? Not only from this “yellow bus in the yard”, but those who are dug out of mass graves are gathered on the sidewalks… How can relatives find their dead? There is still no electricity or communication in Bucha. It is unclear to whom and how to address, “the worried woman wrote.
ZN.UA asked the Bucha District Prosecutor's Office for clarification. We explain what to do to those whose loved ones died in Bucha, but they have not yet been found:
- Apply to the Bucha District Police Department (Boyarka, 88 Khreschatyk Street) in writing or on line 102 to register the criminal proceedings.
- City Clinical Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination (Kyiv, 4 Dokuchaevska Street), and to the Kyiv Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination (Kyiv, 7 Orangery Street).
- If possible, provide DNA samples of the deceased for comparative analysis.
- Provide the pre-trial investigation body with up-to-date photos of the deceased for inspection among unidentified bodies, detailed descriptions of appearance, special features, vehicles used, mobile terminals. language.
