The British government appealed to the European Broadcasting Union ( EBU), which is the organizer of Eurovision, with a request to consider Ukraine's application to hold the competition next year. This is reported by the website of the country's government.
It is noted that the Prime Minister of Great Britain Boris Johnson had a telephone conversation with the President of our country Volodymyr Zelensky. The conversation was also about Eurovision.

“They also discussed Eurovision 2023, and the Prime Minister said that Great Britain has asked the EBU to consider Ukraine's proposals for this event,” the message reads. “Eurovision-2022” was won by the Kalush Orchesta group, which at the end of its performance called for help to Ukraine and to save “Azovstal”. The group received 631 points, while 439 points were given by the audience.
On June 17, the EBU announced the fact that Ukraine will not be able to host Eurovision 2023. With criticism of such a decision the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of our country Oleksandr Tkachenko spoke, who demanded its review. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also stated that the competition should be held in Ukraine. This country took second place at Eurovision 2022 and is being considered as a possible host country for next year's competition.
On June 23, the EBU confirmed that our country will not be able to host Eurovision next year due to a full-scale invasion by Russia.
