Georgia has stopped selling grain for export

The country strengthens its own food security.

In Georgia, a resolution came into force imposing a ban for sale for export of own wheat and barley . The ban will be in effect until July 1, 2023 due to Russia's war against Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Georgian government.

The resolution has already been signed by the Prime Minister of Georgia.

The document states that the reason for its emergence and adoption were pressing food security issues.

“Given the global food security problems caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war, the export of wheat and barley from Georgia is banned until July 1, 2023. The government decree takes effect from the moment of signing and applies to contractual relations within the emerging value chain. from July 4, 2022, “the resolution reads.

Earlier it was reported that the G7 countries have agreed to contribute more than 4 , $ 5 billion to resolve Russia's global food crisis .

On June 24, G7 (G7) foreign ministers agreed that Russia's invasion of Ukraine is caused by the current global food crisis , and Moscow is responsible for it.
