The general left the country a few hours before the Russian invasion.
Former head of the SBU's Main Department of Internal Security, Brigadier General Andrei Naumov , left Ukraine just hours before the Russian invasion on February 24, Radio Svoboda reports.
Naumov, accompanied by several people, left Ukraine on February 23, his family earlier. Law enforcement officers have opened a case against him under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a state act, according to journalists of the project “Schemes”, citing sources in law enforcement agencies. The GBR is investigating.
In the second half of March, several addresses of Andrei Naumov were searched in connection with the case of nationalism. Investigative actions were carried out, in particular, in an apartment in the Alter Ego residential complex in Kiev and the village of Grebenki near the capital (the property is registered to Naumov's relatives).
During the searches it turned out that the general's real estate was guarded by SBU officers. Journalists suggest that the protection was provided in the framework of criminal proceedings from 2021 on the possible preparation of an assassination attempt on Naumov's murder .
Andrei Naumov joined the SBU shortly after it was headed by Ivan Bakanov . He later headed the department's internal security department, as a result of which the WB Office changed its status to the “General Directorate”, which gave its head new powers and influence on the service.
