Fighters of the International Defense Legion of Ukraine< /strong> accuse one of the commanders of numerous abuses, including threats, theft, and coercion to loot. Journalists discovered that this man is almost certainly a former member of a criminal group wanted in Poland for fraud.
A military man who looks like a former member of one of the most influential Polish mafia groups of the 90s, Pyotr Kapuscinski< /strong>, allegedly commands one of the units of the Legion, despite the ban on foreigners holding leadership positions in the army, and abuses this power, the investigation of The Kyiv Independent revealed.
Kapusczynski is wanted in Poland and is involved in criminal proceedings in Ukraine.
In the Kapuscinsky Legion, they know Sasha Kuchynsky. He uses this name, presents himself as a colonel, and wears the appropriate epaulettes, despite Ukrainian law prohibiting military foreigners from having a rank higher than sergeant.
Legionnaires accuse Kuchynsky of looting, theft of personal ammunition from soldiers, and criminal orders to go to hot spots without proper preparation and without information about friendly and enemy positions, which leads to the loss of servicemen.
The Kyiv Independent conducted interviews with five legionnaires, received photo and video evidence, more than 10 military statements about numerous offenses, as well as a 78-page report by soldiers, which talks about deep-seated problems in the Legion.
