According to media reports, the text of the application is ready.

Finland must decide on submission applications for NATO membership on May 12, Iltalehti reports, citing government sources. The decision on the country's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance should take place in two stages.

This decision has already been made by Prime Minister Sanna Marin. In turn, President Sauli Niinisto plans to announce his approval of Finland's accession to NATO, and only then parliamentary groups must approve the application. The text of the document, according to the publication, is ready.

Parliamentary committees will not discuss the application again. It will also not be put to a second vote. It is stated that the application is planned to be submitted to NATO soon.

It was reported that Finland and Sweden plan to apply for NATO membership in May. Thus, both countries have decided to speed up the accession process without waiting for the Alliance's planned summit in late June.
