What to do for Easter
Preparations for the holiday begin seven weeks before Lent. This is a period not only of giving up food, but also a time of preparation of the spirit for a bright holiday.
Traditionally, in the evening before, believers go to church and attend services. As Ukraine now lives in the conditions of the war that Russia has started in our country, there is a curfew, so it is necessary to refuse to visit the church at night. At the same time, you can join the broadcast of services online.
The church also urges believers not to congregate in churches, as Russian troops can carry out various provocations.
Easter is traditionally prepared for the holiday – sweet butter cakes . In addition, it is customary to paint eggs. The main color for eggs is red, but you can choose any other.
It is believed that the first products to eat on the holiday are a piece of Easter cake and a consecrated egg.
It is also customary to exchange Easter eggs on the holiday. The tradition of painting eggs is connected with the story that Mary Magdalene came to the Emperor Tiberius with the news of the resurrection of Christ. The emperor replied that he would believe it only when his hand turned red. And a miracle happened – the egg changed its color.
On this day they also play “balls” with painted eggs.
