Due to the strike in Poland, the queue of trucks to enter Ukraine stretched for 58 kilometers

Polish protesters threaten to block a number of checkpoints.

“Dorogusk-Yagodin”, the queue to enter Ukraine stretched for 58 kilometers, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Mustafa Nayem reported.

According to him, there are 2,437 trucks in the queue to cross the border in the direction of Ukraine, and considering that almost 40% of all exports on the Polish border leave through the Jagodin checkpoint, which leads to huge losses, which, according to customs data, amount to UAH 60 million per day.

Yes, according to According to the Border Service of the Republic of Poland, the waiting time for registration for trucks at the Dorogusk checkpoint as of 11:45 on September 8 is at least 38 hours.

“Currently, Polish protesters are threatening to set up similar road closures also at the “Grebenne-Rava Ruska” and “Medyka-Sheghini” checkpoints,” the deputy minister noted, adding that a compromise solution is currently being sought with the Polish government and carriers.

To solve the problem, after consultations with Polish colleagues, the Ukrainian side proposed to increase the number of employees of the phytosanitary and veterinary inspection of the Republic of Poland and, perhaps, even to cancel the control of trucks transporting rapeseed for the production of biodiesel and those transiting through Poland in the direction of export from Ukraine, if they will be pre-sealed.

“For their part, all Ukrainian services involved in this are ready to start sorting vehicles at the border depending on the cargo. This will allow equalizing the workload of Polish inspectors of various services working at the border. In fact, Ukraine is ready to release to the Polish side those cars that the inspectors of the neighboring country are ready to issue immediately, without waiting. In this way, it will be possible to reduce traffic jams inside the neighboring checkpoint,” Nayem added.

Ukraine is also ready to prepare and open the Hrushiv-Budomiezh and Ugryniv checkpoints for the extraordinary departure of empty trucks from Ukraine to Poland in the shortest possible time. – Dolgobychiv” and “Smilnytsia-Kroscienko”, but this requires the consent of the Polish colleagues.

“It will be possible to increase the capacity of the checkpoints if the Polish side stops counting empty trucks in the number registered for the shift. In fact, they pass many times faster than loaded and without any registration. The optimal solution would be to increase the number of trucks crossing the border from 300 to 500 per day,” said the deputy minister.
