Kazakhstan respects the territorial integrity of Ukraine and will adhere to UN decisions on Crimea and Donbass, said the first deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan Timur Suleimenov in an interview with Euractiv. According to him, there are no problems in the state to call war a war.

“No, we have no problem calling things by their names. Russia has decided to introduce a law banning the word “war”. They call it a special military operation. But in Kazakhstan, we call it as it is, unfortunately, “Suleimanov said.

At the same time, the UN General Assembly voted in favor of two resolutions calling for an end to the war. Kazakhstan abstained during both votes. Asked whether this was due to the state's membership and its contractual obligations to Russia, Suleimanov said: “Indeed, Kazakhstan is a member of both the Eurasian Economic Union and the CSTO, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, so we are members of both economic and military unions in Russia. . But the provisions of the treaties do not apply to this particular case. “

“Of course, Russia wanted us to be more on their side. But Kazakhstan respects the territorial integrity of Ukraine. We have not recognized and do not recognize either the situation with Crimea or the situation with Donbass, because they are not recognized by the UN. We will respect only the decisions made at the United Nations level, “said the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan.
