Chinese technical giants are publicly refusing to work with Russia – WSJ

They are confused by Western sanctions.

Chinese tech giants such as Lenovo and Xiaomi , publicly refuse to do business with Russia because they do not want to fall under Western sanctions. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing traders.

Given the official position of Beijing on Western sanctions, Chinese companies do not make public statements to stop trading with the aggressor who launched a full-scale war against Ukraine.

Among the companies secretly stopping deliveries to Russia is the world's largest PC maker and Russia's second-largest device maker last year. The company cut off supplies shortly after Russia declared war and foreign sanctions took effect – only a few stocks can still be sold in the country.

Xiaomi, Russia's second-largest phone retailer, also cut supplies to Russia. One of the region's distributors said there had been no supplies in recent weeks.

China's technology exports to Russia fell sharply in March, with laptops falling by more than 40 percent in a month , smartphones – more than 60%, and exports of telecommunications base stations virtually stopped and fell by 98%, according to the latest Chinese government. In turn, China's total exports to Russia fell by 27% during the two months of the war in Ukraine. US companies are insisting that China adhere to sanctions to prevent US semiconductors from entering Russia in violation of restrictions.

As previously reported, the tech giant Apple has suspended sales of its products in Russia's official online store.
