Ukraine has every chance of gaining EU candidate status at the EU summit on June 23-24 in Brussels.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen defended her proposal to grant Ukraine EU candidate status . “Ukraine has made great strides forward,” she told German TV channel ARD.

The EC President stressed commitment to “support the country during this period. According to von der Leyen, Ukraine is a “strong parliamentary democracy”, but the European Union wants to see “even more reforms”.
The EC has also recommended granting EU candidate status in Moldova. But Georgia, which applied at the same time as Moldova and Ukraine, will have to wait.
