In Ukraine, the situation is much better.
Russia ranks third after China and Iran in by the level of censorship on the Internet and the sixth place on the scale of restrictions on freedoms on the Internet. Such results were shown by the annual Freedom on the Net rating of the international human rights non-governmental organization Freedom House.
In the rating of Internet censorship, Russia took third place among the 30 states covered by the study, along with Myanmar and Bahrain. Only China and Iran were ahead of the Russian Federation. The worst situation is in China and it scored 2 points, Iran – 5 points, and Russia – 6 points. And according to the same indicator, for comparison, Ukraine scored 21 points.
In the rating of the scale of restrictions on freedoms on the Internet, Russia scored 23 points and ranks sixth (the higher the place, the worse the situation with freedom in the network). The situation is worse only in Vietnam, Cuba, Iran, Myanmar and China. Ukraine scored 59 points on this indicator and was in 31st place.

Recall that a recent study by Freedom House showed that the Russian invasion of Ukraine led to a global decline in Internet freedom. Russia experienced the sharpest decline of all 70 countries represented in the report, reaching the lowest level in 12 years of monitoring.
