Canada sent two warships to the Baltic Sea

From July to October 2022, HMCS Kingston and Summerside will join the NATO Permanent Mine Action Group.

The Canadian ships Kingston and Summerside went on a four-month deployment in the Baltic Sea region and the North Atlantic as part of Operation REASSURANCE. The country is deploying two Kingston-class maritime coastal defense vessels to contribute to NATO safeguards and deterrence measures in Central and Eastern Europe, according to the Defense Department's website.

Between July and October 2022, HMCS Kingston and Summerside will join NATO's Permanent Mine Action Group. During the operation, the ships will participate in NATO's continued presence at sea, in high alert, in order to respond quickly and effectively to support any NATO operation.

Note that Kigston and Summerside will replace the Montreal and Halifax ships that Canada is currently deploying in the region in support of NATO efforts.
