Bulgaria accused the Russians of a cyberattack on government websites

Among other things, attackers attacked the website of the Administration of the President of Bulgaria.

The Russians have frequently used cyber attacks against Ukraine since the February 24 invasion. But not only our state suffers from the actions of Russian hackers. On October 15, a number of Bulgarian government websites were attacked by attackers whose whereabouts were recorded on the territory of the Russian Federation. This is reported by the Bulgarian News Agency.

According to the publication, the cyber attack was carried out on Saturday in the morning. Government websites, airport portals, media and telecommunications providers became its target. At the time of the attacks, they were either temporarily unavailable or loaded with a delay.

Among other things, the attackers attacked the website of the Administration of the President of Bulgaria. They assured that the content of the portal has not undergone any changes. Unauthorized access to any personal data was not recorded.

Later, the prosecutor's office reported that the attack on Bulgarian websites started from the Russian city of Magnitogorsk . Prosecutors hope that specific individuals involved in the cyber attack will be identified through international legal assistance. The Prosecutor General of Bulgaria, Ivan Geshev, called the actions of the hackers a criminal offense that “affects the foundations of the security of the Bulgarian state.”
