The Ministry of Agriculture believes that this year's harvest will fully cover the needs of Ukrainian consumers.
According to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, in 2022, the buckwheat harvest may amount to 140,000 tons. This was stated by First Deputy Minister Taras Vysotsky during a telethon.
“8% – 12.6 thousand tons have already been collected and threshed. In general, we expect that 140 thousand tons of buckwheat can be collected,” he said. he.
By the way, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the domestic consumption of buckwheat in Ukraine is 110,000 tons annually.
Vysotsky noted that in 2022, farmers increased the area of buckwheat crops by 1, 5 times. Buckwheat will be harvested by the end of September and it will be available in Ukrainian stores from October.
Prices are falling
In Zhytomyr, buckwheat is sold at 55 hryvnias per kilogram at the Rye Market. Although a few days ago, groats cost 90, reports RBC-Ukraine.
According to the sellers, the reason for the drop in the price of the product is the new harvest.
