British intelligence named the key factor in the battles for Kherson

Russian troops have only two ways to supply ammunition to the occupied city.

The day before, the Kherson occupation administration reported about strike by Ukrainian troops on the Antoniv bridge across the Dnipro. And although videos on social networks show clear battle damage to the roadway of the bridge, it is likely that the bridge remains usable, but this is a key vulnerability for Russian forces, British intelligence analysts say .

In particular, the Antoniv Bridge is one of only two crossing points across the Dnieper River through which Russia can bring in or withdraw its troops from the territory it has occupied west of the river.

“This territory includes the politically and symbolically important city of Kherson for Russia. The lower course of the Dnipro is a natural barrier with a normal width of the waterway of about 1,000 m. Control over the forcing through the Dnipro is likely to be a key factor in the outcome of the battles in the region,” the British Ministry of Defense noted.

On July 19, Serhiy Khlan, adviser to the head of the Kherson Oblast, reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had struck the Russian military base near the Antonivsky Bridge in Kherson. Later, it became known that the Antoniv bridge was damaged, but for now it remained usable.

The Antoniv bridge across the Dnipro connects occupied Kherson with the left bank of the region, which is controlled by the Russians. It is important for the supply of enemy equipment and ammunition to the occupied city.
