Britain stopped recognizing the Moscow Stock Exchange

London has imposed sanctions on more than 1,000 individuals and more than 100 businesses.

The British government has revoked the status of a recognized institution on the Moscow Stock Exchange. This was in response to the fact that the central bank of the Russian Federation imposed restrictions on foreign investors in connection with Western sanctions against Russia, reported in the Office of Tax and Customs Duties updated list of recognized exchanges.

Now investors will not be able to get access to certain UK tax benefits if securities are traded on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

Since the invasion, the United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on more than 1,000 individuals and more than 100 businesses. Today, the British government imposed sanctions against the metallurgical and mining company Evraz , which produces 28% of wheelsets and 97% of rails in Russia. This is vital as Russia uses the railways to move key military supplies and troops to the front line in Ukraine.

Evraz is a large vertically integrated metallurgical and mining company and one of the largest vanadium producers in the world. The largest shareholder is Roman Abramovich, who owns 28.64% of Evraz. Alexander Abramov through Abiglaze Ltd. controls 19.32% of the capital, Alexander Frolov (Crosland Global Ltd.) – 9.65%, Gennady Kozov owns 5.74%, Maxim Vorobyov – 3.01%.
