The country plans to build seven nuclear power plants by 2050 as part of efforts to develop its own energy sources. This was stated by Minister of Business, Energy and Industry Kwasi Quarteng.
“Speaking of energy, we think maybe 30 or even 40 years ahead. By 2050, we will be living in a world where Britain will have six or seven nuclear power plants. It is clear that this will not happen in the next two years. But this is definitely what we can strive for, “the minister said in an interview with the Telegraph.
According to him, nuclear power plants may account for 15-25% of total electricity production.
According to the publication, at present the British government has pledged to finance the construction of only one major nuclear power plant.
