Belgium became the first country in the world to introduce quarantine due to monkeypox

Who is it for?

Four cases have been reported in Belgium in the last week monkeypox disease , so the country has introduced a mandatory 21-day quarantine, according to Politico, noting that it applies only to those who fell ill.

The decision was made on May 19 Belgian health authorities.

The publication notes that when a person has been in contact with the infected, he or she does not need isolation. However, vulnerable people need to be monitored particularly closely during such contacts.

Monkeypox belongs to the same family as smallpox. Its symptoms: bumps, fever, muscle aches and headaches. However, such smallpox is less deadly.
