“Azov” commanders will undergo rehabilitation in Turkey: the ambassador of Ukraine told the details

Five Ukrainian heroes will be abroad until the end of the war.

Recently, Ukraine managed to carry out an important exchange of prisoners, as a result of which 215 defenders returned home, including soldiers of the “Azov” regiment. According to previously agreed terms, they were handed over to the Ukrainian side in Turkey, where they will live until the end of the war against Russia and undergo a rehabilitation course. This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar in a comment for “Suspilny”.

According to the diplomat, the commander of the “Azov” regiment < Denis Prokopenko("Radis"), his deputy Sviatoslav Palamar, acting commander of the 36th separate brigade of marines Serhiy Volynskyi (“Volyn”), as well as Oleg Khomenko and Denis Shlega will be in a special institution until the end of the war against the Russian Federation, where they will undergo a rehabilitation course. The place of temporary residence of the “Azovians” will be reliably guarded.

Bodnar noted that in Turkey, the defenders of Mariupol will be under the protection and guardianship of the Turkish state and under the personal patronage of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was precisely the role of Turkey in the exchange, as well as the fact that it took place physically in Ankara.

“They are quite tortured, exhausted by all these tortures and inhuman treatment by the aggressor country,” the ambassador said about the defenders of Azovstal.

Bodnar also clarified that the exchange of Ukrainian prisoners of war was coordinated in the coordination headquarters in the Office of the President, headed by Andriy Yermak, and the head of the State Security Service Kyrylo Budanov and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Denys Monastyrskyi, worked directly in Ankara.
