On this day, any work was considered a sin.
On April 7, Christians of the Eastern rite celebrate Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin . This is the third most important holiday after Christmas and Easter. It belongs to the intransigent and is celebrated annually on the same day.
The very word “Annunciation” means “good news”. On this day, believers commemorate the events when the Archangel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary and informed her that she would become the mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Traditions of celebration
One of the customs of the holiday is associated with birds. On this day it is customary to release birds, especially pigeons. It is believed that they will bring the angels information about good deeds.
It was also customary to prepare evangelical salt on the holiday. Each member of the family threw a pinch of salt in a bag, after which the hostess pierced it and saved for special needs. It was believed that such salt could cure diseases. If it was not needed during the year, it should have been burned at the stake.
What not to do in the Annunciation
Any work of this day is considered a sin. There is a saying: “A bird does not eat a nest, and a girl does not weave braids.”
You cannot sew or knit something on this day. It is believed that human life is a thread that only angels and God can control. The possibility of tangling threads is extremely high during the holiday.
You cannot wear new clothes on this day.
