American leasing company Air Lease Corporation wants to write off 27 planes left in Russia after the imposition of sanctions. It is about $ 802 million. This was reported by Reuters, citing a statement from the company.
“It is unlikely that the company will return to the ownership of aircraft that are not returned and remain in Russia,” – said in a statement Air Lease.
The write-off, which includes 21 company-owned and six aircraft in Air Lease's fleet, will be reflected in the first-quarter earnings report scheduled for May 5.
Air Lease said it did not expect the write-off to result in significant future monetary costs and considering insurance claims for aircraft damages.
Currently, international lessors are seeking the return from Russia of more than 400 aircraft worth nearly $ 10 billion.
