Ukrainians are fleeing the war to the West. A quarter of Ukraine's population has fled their homes.
Since the beginning of the Russian military aggression, Ukrainians, especially from the east of the country, have been forced to leave their homes and move to safer places. According to the United Nations, almost 4 million people have already crossed the Ukrainian border, according to the Public.
The humanitarian situation in Ukraine was discussed at an evening meeting of the UN Security Council on March 29. UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Msuya said that “3.9 million people have already crossed the border and 6.5 million are internally displaced.”
The civilians of the occupied and blocked cities are in dire straits. Joyce Msuya stressed that humanitarian aid is often blocked, and that shelling and mines make it impossible to deliver convoys to their destinations. Humanitarian corridors agreed upon by the parties are being disrupted or shelled, preventing people from leaving the war zone.
Earlier, the UN named the number of victims among the civilian population of Ukraine, but the real numbers are much higher.
We will remind, the Ministry of Social Policy reported on allocation of financial aid to internal migrants in the amount of 2 – 3 thousand hryvnias.
