This is stated in the joint statement of US President Joe Biden and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, published on the White House website.
The parties emphasized the importance of strategic economic and investment cooperation, in particular against the background of the current crisis in Ukraine and its consequences, and also confirmed their commitment to a stable global energy market.
It is noted that the US welcomed the commitment of Saudi Arabia to maintain the balance of the global oil market for sustainable economic growth. The two sides agreed to hold regular consultations on the energy market in the near and long term, and to work together as strategic partners on climate change and energy initiatives.
Riyadh also plans to increase oil production. This can help stabilize the global energy market.
Biden and Mohammed bin Salman discussed the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine. Both sides stressed that the rules-based order is at the heart of international security, stressing the importance of respect for international law, territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to providing assistance to the Ukrainian people and ensuring unimpeded grain exports to mitigate the global food crisis that threatens to hit the Middle East and Africa.
