One of the reasons for the great losses of the Russian aggressors is the fundamental structural lack of Russian armored vehicles, which makes them “mobile coffins”.
Crews of Russian tanks participating in the unmotivated large-scale aggression against Ukraine, they must understand that they were put in iron mobile coffins, which even with the indirect hit of a modern anti-tank missile leave them no chance of survival – they were simply sent to slaughter.
< British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said last Monday that the aggressor had lost 580 tanks since Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine, CNN reported.
Experts note that Russian tanks suffer from a structural defect that the Western military has known for decades and which is called the “devil's box effect”. However, the Russian military-industrial complex continues to stubbornly reproduce this defect.
The problem is how tank ammunition is stored. Unlike modern Western tanks, the Russians carry several shells in their turrets. This makes them very vulnerable, because even an indirect hit by an anti-tank missile causes a detonation that undermines their entire ammunition – up to 40 shells.
The shock wave may be enough to throw the tank tower to the height of a two-story building, as seen in recent videos posted on social media.
This shortcoming means that the tank crew is usually two people in the tower and the third at the wheel – doomed. Ammunition explosions pose problems for almost all armored vehicles used by Russia in Ukraine.
This shortcoming of Russian armored vehicles has been known since the Iraq war, but Russia has not learned its lessons. When the T-90, the successor to the T-72, entered service in 1992, its armor was upgraded, but the threat of detonation did not go away. T-80, another Russian tank involved in the invasion of Ukraine, is also an “ideal mobile coffin”.
