A coordination center for the export of grain from Ukraine will be operational in Istanbul

The center will monitor the movement of ships in the Black Sea.

In Istanbul, starting from Wednesday, July 27, A joint coordination center within the framework of the implementation of the provisions of the Initiative on mutual understanding regarding the safe transportation of grain from the ports of Ukraine.

It is noted that the center will monitor all movements of vessels leaving the three ports of Ukraine. Ships that will use the corridor created in the Black Sea will, if necessary, be checked before passing through the straits.

In particular, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that the work on the export of grain from the ports of Ukraine via the Black Sea has begun. He noted that a plan to ensure the safe transportation of grain is being developed, courts will inspect the ports of Ukraine, Anadolu reports.

As reported, on July 22, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN signed an agreement on grain exports. Food traders are skeptical of the deal. The greatest fear among exporters is uncertainty about who and how will insure cargo going through mined waters.

As the Guardian writes, their fears have increased after Russian shelling of the port in Odesa, which happened less than a day after the signing of the agreement.
