The causative agent of the dangerous infectious disease anthrax (Bacillus anthracis) was discovered on October 10 during bacteriological studies of pathological material from a dead goat that died on September 29-30
As noted in a comment for ZN.ua, chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin, information about the identification of the pathogen was received by the Kyiv Center for Disease Control and Prevention on October 12. At the same time, an epidemiological investigation began.
“Employees were appointed to take care of the animal. Contact persons were examined by a doctor, no signs of the disease were found. At the same time, medical observation will continue for 14 days, – said Ihor Kuzin. – Also, on October 12, soil samples were taken at the place of grazing and death of animals. Currently, these samples are being examined for the presence of particularly dangerous infections.”

The results of the epidural investigation, in particular, the causes of the appearance of the anthrax pathogen, are promised to be reported later.

Recall that in an ZN.UA interview in May, Ihor Kuzin talked about the risk of anthrax spreading due to the war. In particular, it was said that in Ukraine there are 14 thousand graves of animals suffering from anthrax, which have been buried since the beginning of the last century. Projectiles getting there and then being washed away by groundwater can trigger an outbreak.
