American director Woody Allen announced the end of his directing career. At the same time, he will continue to work as a screenwriter. He told this in an interview with the newspaper La Vanguardia, Deadline reports.
The shooting of Allen's next film, “Wasps”, will take place in Europe. They should start already in the fall.

“My idea, in principle, is not to make more films and focus on screenplays,” said Allen in an interview. He also added that his next project will be a novel.
This is not the first time Allen has talked about plans to stop directing. Thus, in an interview with Alec Baldwin in June, the director said that he plans to “make one or two films” and admitted that “thrills are gone” due to the fact that films began to be released on streaming services, and not in theaters.< /p>
During his career, Allen was nominated for an Oscar for best screenplay a record 16 times. He is the winner of four Academy Awards, including Best Director for Annie Hall. Despite his great success, the director is known for always avoiding award ceremonies.
Allen found himself at the center of a scandal after his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow accused the director of sexual harassment. She claims her foster father sexually assaulted her in 1992 when she was seven. Allen denies this, claiming that his ex-wife Mia Farrow inspired Dylan with the story.
In response to Farrow's accusations the cast of Allen's film “A Rainy Day in New York” said they would donate their royalties to fight against harassment.
