American actor Will Smith apologized for hitting host of the Oscar ceremony Chris Rock. However, the American Film Academy will still investigate the incident.
During the Oscars, Rock joked that Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, looked like Jane's soldier, for whose role Demi Moore shaved her head. Jada suffers from alopecia – a pathological hair loss. Smith then took the stage and punched Rock in the face. A few minutes later, the actor won an Oscar and apologized for his actions during the Oscar speech.

He has now posted a post on his Instagram apologizing for his behavior, calling it “inappropriate and unacceptable” and violence “destructive and poisonous.”
“Jokes about me are part of the job, but the joke about Jada's health was unbearable for me, and I reacted emotionally. I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I crossed the line, and I was wrong. I'm ashamed, and my actions do not correspond to the person I want to be. There is no place for violence in the world of love and goodness, ”Smith wrote.
He also apologized to the American Film Academy, the producers, the organizers of the ceremony and everyone who watched it.

According to the BBC, the film academy said it would investigate all the circumstances of the incident, as well as possible consequences in accordance with the laws of the State of California and the rules of conduct acceptable to it.
One of the organizers of the ceremony said that such cases discredit one of the most significant events in Hollywood. “Smith has attracted all the attention. I don't think [the Academy Awards ceremony] is a place for violence. Most people were shocked. There were children. We all had a holiday, “she told the BBC on condition of anonymity.
Smith's intemperance was also condemned by his colleagues. In particular, the negative reaction was expressed by actors Denzel Washington and Tyler Perry, as well as screenwriter and director Marshall Herskowitz. There were also calls to take away the Oscar from Smith.
