Vira Vovk, a Ukrainian writer from Boryslav, Lviv Oblast, died in Brazil. Chitomo writes about the death of the 96-year-old writer.
She translated from French, Italian, Romanian, Macedonian, Old Slavic into Ukrainian. Her translation work includes the works of such masters of the word as Paul Claudel, Pablo Neruda, Federico García Lorca, Rabindranath Tagore, Georg, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, and others.
Vovk was a graduate of the University of Tübingen, one of the oldest educational institutions in Germany. , where she studied German studies, Slavic studies and musicology. Later, she graduated from the university in Rio de Janeiro. She also completed internships at Columbia (New York) and Munich universities. The discipline of her scientific interest in these universities was comparative literature. She had a doctoral degree in philosophy.
