Ukraine will replace Russia at the World Volleyball Championship

Athletes from the occupying country were disqualified.

Men's national team of Ukraine in volleyball will take part in the 2022 World Cup instead of disqualified Russia.

“FVU President Mykhailo Melnyk has received a letter from the FIVB stating that Ukraine will play in the 2022 World Cup instead of Russia,” the statement said. According to the FVU press service.

Ukraine will take Russia's place in Group A under the first seeded number, its rivals will be the national teams of Serbia, Tunisia and Puerto Rico.

Recall that in September 2021 Ukraine's men's national team did not have one license place to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

The 2022 World Volleyball Championship was to take place from August 26 to September 11, 2022 in ten Russian cities, but due to the invasion of Ukraine. The tournament was taken away from the occupiers.

According to preliminary information, the World Cup will be held in Poland and Slovenia.
