The United States has struck a “preemptive blow” to the network infrastructure of Russian hackers

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has conducted a successful “special operation” to establish control over thousands of routers and firewalls of Russian hackers.

The US FBI has become actively involved in cyber warfare. After several Russian hacker attacks on Ukraine and Europe, the Bureau has developed and conducted an operation to neutralize malware, writes Reuters.

The publication reports that the special operation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation was characterized as a preventive step. Its main purpose is to prevent attacks by Russian hackers through hacked devices in the “botnet” that can attack other servers with malicious traffic.

“Fortunately, we were able to hack this botnet before it could be used, “Reuters quoted US Attorney General Merrick Garland as saying.

“The botnet was controlled by malicious software called Cyclops Blink, which US and British cybersecurity agencies publicly attributed to Sandworm in late February, allegedly to one of Russia's hacking teams, which has repeatedly been accused of cyberattacks,” the article said.

Cyclops Blink software provided Russian intelligence services with access to compromised systems and allowed remote removal, removal or reconfiguration of devices.

According to FBI Director Chris Ray, the bureau received court permission and secretly infiltrated thousands of routers and firewalls to remove malware and reconfigure devices.

“We have removed malware from devices used by thousands of network security companies around the world. We closed the door through which the Russians entered them, “Ray said.

Earlier, hackers from Russia attacked NATO servers and the armed forces of some Eastern European countries./p>
