“Butterfly Vision” is about a woman warrior who does not want to be a victim. After being released from enemy captivity, air reconnaissance Lilya tries to return to her peaceful life in Ukraine. Pain and trauma from the experience constantly come to the surface, as if in a dream, something inside it does not allow to forget why she should live on.
“While making this film, I hoped that it would be mostly about the past and the consequences of the war that we as a society would have to deal with. But it turned out to be a film about our present and future, about the premonition of a great war and the place that everyone consciously occupies in it. Participating in the Cannes Film Festival was and is a dream come true for every filmmaker, but at the moment I am not happy about it, because many of my fellow citizens are going through the horrors of our country. work. But I realize that the Cannes International Festival is the best venue for Ukrainian voices to be heard, and the world has finally begun to place the right emphasis, see the links between Russian culture and Russian aggression, and view Ukrainian-Russian relations through colonial perspective.
