The Ukrainian Institute plans to release a series of films about destroyed Ukrainian cities.
British actor Hugh Bonneville, known for the role of Robert Crowley in the series “Downton Abbey”, voiced the history of damaged and destroyed cultural monuments of Kharkiv as part of the international project of the Ukrainian Institute “Postcards from Ukraine”.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian army has destroyed more than 450 unique cultural and historical objects. The Ukrainian Institute, with the support of USAID, launched the international campaign “Postcards from Ukraine”, which tells about the destroyed monuments of Ukraine. As part of the project, a single database of 100 monuments has been created, where you can see the extent of the destruction and read the history of each monument in Ukrainian and English.
“The historical center and the explosions from the shells on the Freedom Square became a terrible reminder of what worth freedom in the 21st century. However, you can destroy the Maidans, but not freedom,” says Hugh Bonneville in the video.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the actor has been actively supporting Ukraine in social networks, appeals and collecting money for humanitarian and military aid.
“We need to talk more about the causes and form of this war so that foreigners understand the scale and consequences of it will have not only for Ukrainian culture, but also for European and world culture in general. It is important to find like-minded people, among stars and influencers in other countries, who will be able to convey the truth about the horrors of this war to a larger number of people in the world with their voices,” said Ksenia Kalyna, head of communications at the Ukrainian Institute.
