The legendary American basketball player Bill Russell died at the age of 88 years, reports CNN.
Russell is the most successful player in the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA) – he has 11 championship titles in 13 seasons.
The basketball player played as a center and all his spent his playing career with the Boston Celtics (1956-1969). Russell then went on to coach Boston, the Seattle SuperSonics, and the Sacramento Kings.
It is worth noting that Russell was one of the first black players in the NBA and later became the league's first African-American coach.
