France banned basketball players of its national team from playing for clubs from Russia and Belarus

The ban will be in effect until the end of the war in Ukraine, which was unleashed by Russia. At the same time, players who have already moved to clubs from the Russian Federation and Belarus will simply not be called up to the women's and men's national teams of France.

All members of the French national teams must sign a statement in which they agree not to cooperate with teams from countries aggressors during the war in Ukraine.

Violation of the conditions of this statement will lead to exclusion from the national teams or personnel list for future tournaments, including the 2024 Olympics.

It is worth noting that the French basketball player Tom Ertel, who signed a contract with the Russian “Zenit”, did not get into the extended French national team for EuroBasket-2024.
