The British BBC corporation announced a shortlist of seven cities, which claim the right to hold the Eurovision Song Contest next year. They include Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle and Sheffield, Sospilne reports.

It is noted that the BBC received applications from 20 cities from all four nations that make up Great Britain. All of them told how they will reflect Ukrainian culture, music and communities to emphasize that Ukraine has won Eurovision 2022.
Seven cities were shortlisted, the choice was made based on their compliance with a list of criteria that would allow them to host events of this scale and level of complexity. Given the limited time before the event, the selection procedure is mainly focused on demonstrating previous experience in organizing large international events and own ability to host a festival of modern music.
The selection of the host city of the competition takes place in two stages. Seven cities from the shortlist advanced to the second, final stage. The BBC will choose the winner together with the European Broadcasting Union. The host city of “Eurovision-2023” will be named in the fall.
