Ukraine's first racket Elina Svitolina has announced that she is temporarily suspending her professional performances.
“For me it was an extremely difficult couple of months not only morally but also physically. I suffered from back pain for a long time. The pain did not allow me to prepare for the tournaments in the best way. Meanwhile, watching with unbearable heart pain what is happening on my homeland, in Ukraine, and with what courage and bravery our Ukrainian people defend our country, I received a huge push to continue and fight on the court. Now my body can no longer withstand it, and I need to rest. But I'm sure I'll see you soon! ” , – Svitolina reported.
Svitolina has played 13 matches this season, losing eight of them. Last season, the best Ukrainian tennis player finished in 14th position.
At the Olympics in Tokyo, Svitolina won bronze, winning the first medal for Ukraine in the history of Olympic tennis tournaments.
