The football season has started in Ukraine.
On Tuesday, August 23, in Kyiv at the opening match of the 1st round of the Ukrainian Premier League between Shakhtar Donetsk and Kharkiv club Metalist 1925 took place at the NSC Olimpiyskiy stadium.
The match ended goalless, and the renewed “Shakhtar” could not cope with the Kharkiv club.

We will remind you that the last season of the Ukrainian football championship was ended early due to the full-scale military invasion of Russia. The first place went to “Shakhtar”, which was two points ahead of “Dynamo” after 18 rounds.
This match was the first official match of the Ukrainian championship after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Thus, the UPL match took place for the first time in 254 days.
Due to the war, almost all star legionnaires left Shakhtar. Striker Lassina Traore, midfielder Neven Jurasek and Brazilian defender Lucas Taylor remained in the foreign team.
