This step was the result of the decision of the owner of the Donetsk club, Rinat Akhmetov.
Donetsk “Shakhtar” announced the closure of the official club TV channel “Shakhtar TV”.
The license for the broadcast frequency will be returned to the state.
“Due to the entry into force of the Law of Ukraine “On Prevention of Threats to National Security, “related to the excessive influence of persons who have significant economic and political weight in public life (oligarchs)” and the incompatibility of the development of private investments with the consequences of the Law, FC “Shakhtar” appealed to the National Council of Ukraine for Television and Radio Broadcasting with a request to cancel the broadcasting license of the Shakhtar TV channel.
This is a forced step, the details of which are outlined in the statement of FC Shakhtar President Rinat Akhmetov dated July 11, 2022,” the club said in a statement.
