“Shakhtar” appointed Jovicevich as the new head coach

The Croatian specialist was introduced to the team.

Donetsk “Shakhtar” appointed a new head coach, who became the former coach of “Dnipro-1” Ihor Jovichevich, as reported by the club's press service.

The specialist signed a contract with the club for two years and will become the 35th head coach in the history of “miners”, as well as the seventh foreigner at the head of the team. He was introduced to the players and started work.

48-year-old Jovicevich started his coaching career at Karpaty in 2012, after which he also worked at Celje and “Dynamo” Zagreb, and “Dnipro-1” the specialist accepted in 2020.

As a coach, the Croatian played 92 matches in the championship and the Cup of Ukraine – 37 wins, 18 draws and 37 losses with a goal difference 135-120.

In the position of coach of Shakhtar, Jovicevich replaced the Italian Roberto De Dzerbi, with whom the Donetsk team had previously terminated the contract. Most of the legionnaires and the coaching staff left the club after the start of Russia's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.

The new coach of Dnipro-1 will be Oleksandr Kucher from Metalist.
