Lina Kostenko was awarded the Order of the Legion of Honor

This is France's highest award.

Ukrainian poet Lina Kostenko received the Order of the Legion of Honor – the highest award of France. This was reported by journalist Myroslava Barchuk.

The poetess herself admitted that the presentation of the award came as a surprise to her.

< p>“In a difficult time, we gathered here, but on a very good occasion, because to receive the Order of the Legion of Honor is a great honor. It was an absolute surprise for me, because I belong to a literature that is not known worldwide. And suddenly such an award. I really love France. I also have poems about France,” said Lina Kostenko during the award ceremony.

Order The Legion of Honor is a French award that was founded in 1802. Ukrainians have won the award before. Thus, the Order of the Legion of Honor was awarded to artist Ilya Repin, physician Vasyl Vernadskyi, ethnographer Fedor Vovk and others.
