Ukrainian singer Jamala received the “Award for Outstanding Leadership artist “of the Atlantic Council of the United States. She was awarded for her struggle to protect Ukrainian culture and identity during the Russian invasion. The singer told about it on her Facebook page.
The singer became a winner of the award “For outstanding leadership” which the Atlantic Council annually presents to prominent representatives of politics, culture, business, who fight for the values of transatlantic relations and shape the global society of the future.

“I accepted the award on behalf of all Ukrainian artists who use their voices to talk about the crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine. Every day they tell the truth and strengthen the support of our country, protect our culture and demonstrate its uniqueness. This is our common struggle and common small victories, “Jamala said.
The Atlantic Council also awarded the people of Ukraine. The council noted that “the courage and resilience of Ukrainians to the higher forces of the enemy attracted the attention of the whole world and gave new hope to the defenders of democracy around the world.” The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the audience by video conference.
