Almost 60 churches, mosques and synagogues in eight regions of Ukraine were damaged during the war

Most of the destroyed buildings are Orthodox churches.

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, 59 buildings of spiritual significance have been damaged in at least eight regions of our country. These destructions do not take into account nearby buildings, according to the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience.

It is noted that most of these buildings are Orthodox churches. Mosques, synagogues, Protestant churches, religious educational institutions and important administrative buildings of religious organizations were also destroyed. Destruction was recorded in Kyiv, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.

The agency notes that Kremlin propagandists often claim to “protect Orthodoxy”, however, as a result of Russia's aggression on the territory of Ukraine, Orthodox churches and other spiritual buildings are being destroyed.
