The world's 15 largest publishers of scientific journals have suspended sales of products and services to scientific organizations in Russia and Belarus in connection with the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine with the support of Belarus.
At the same time, they decided not to punish Russian and Belarusian scientists directly: publishing houses will continue to publish their articles.
Restrictions were introduced by the following scientific publishers: ACS Publications, Apple Academic Press, Brill, Cambridge University Press & Assessment, De Gruyter, Elsevier, Emerald Publishing, Future Science Group, IOP Publishing, Karger Publishers, Springer Nature, The Geological Society, The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Thieme Group and Wolters Kluwer.

“This statement is a serious challenge, as Russia accounts for only 2.5% of world scientific output. And thus 97.5% of the information for us is blocked. At the same time, I have no doubt that an adequate answer to this challenge will be found, ” commented Alexei Khokhlov, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to Khokhlov, Web of Science and Scopus abstracts will also be blocked in Russia.
