Member of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes Yevgeny Fyodorov has stated that he considers it necessary to “confiscate and nationalize” YouTube video hosting , which belongs to the American company Google. The deputy made the corresponding statement in the comment of the radio station “Moscow Speaks”.
According to Fyodorov, Russian analogues are worse than American ones, he has not been able to register on RuTube (Russian analogue of YouTube – ed.) For several months, and American hosting should become a “trophy”.

“Social networks have become an integral part of our lives. Can air or food be banned? Confiscation required. There is a hostile resource, it works against us. Foreign countries are confiscating our property, so this business, YouTube property, must also be confiscated. Fedorov added that YouTube is a business, data is stored in Russia, and therefore, it can be confiscated in favor of the aggressor country.
“There is a lot of content on YouTube, which according to the law on data centers must be stored in Russia. Most likely it is. Data centers are here. Intellectual property is already in Russia, it can be confiscated, like any property, or frozen, taken into national circulation. Financial transactions should be controlled by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, tax services. Therefore, they can also be taken under national control.
